QLD: Delays in the search for the Centaur

Shipwreck hunters involved in the search for sunken hospital ship .. the Centaur ..

say they can't inspect a promising target today as planned.

Search director DAVID MEARNS says the crew were hoping to have a second look at the
target .. which resembles the size and shape of the Centaur .. with high resolution sonar.

But the ship's heading in a southerly direction in waters off Queensland's southeast
and is not positioned well.

Mr MEARNS says his ship will be in the ideal position early tomorrow morning.

A Japanese submarine torpedoed the Centaur in Moreton Bay in 1943 .. killing 268 non-combatants
.. including nurses and ambulance officers.
