Fed: Gillard says she's happy to take super cut
Opposition health spokeswoman JULIA GILLARD says she's happy to accept a cut to her
superannuation package because she realises it's unfair compared with community standards.
Labor Leader MARK LATHAM plans to limit his own super entitlements if he becomes prime
minister and cap cabinet ministers' entitlements.
That would mean Ms GILLARD, as Labor's House of Representatives leader and health spokeswoman,
would miss out on extra benefits in the event of a Labor win at this year's election.
She's told ABC television she's happy to make the salary sacrifice.
She says it's interesting that the prime minister hasn't matched that in his superannuation
backflip, applying the cuts only to new MPs and senators.
Ms GILLARD says a Labor government would commission the Remuneration Tribunal to look
at politicians' salary levels.
