Visa Moves On Chip Cards
Visa U.S.A. says it is working with several payment-terminal manufacturers, including Phoenix-based Hypercom Corp., Santa Clara, Calif.-based VeriFone and Paris, France-based Ingenico, to lay the groundwork for U.S. smart card terminal, software and systems interoperability based on Europay/MasterCard/Visa standards. In addition to working toward global interoperability among payment terminals, Visa wants also to ensure all other Visa smart card-accepting devices, including cellular phones and handheld computers, are EMV compliant.
