SEAGULL RESCUE SPARKS WARNING ; Animal-lovers risked lives on ice to save a trapped bird [Edition 3]

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a frozen lake after would-be rescuersrisked their lives to save a stricken bird. The fire service issueda warning this week after the animallovers ventured across thesurface to reach a seagull which had become tangled in fishing line.Firefighters were called to Lake Meadows park at 2.20pm on Sunday,by which time the wouldbe rescuers had left the scene. They managedto free the bird at 4pm. However, fire officers were horrified tosee footprints on the ice, showing how passers-by had diced withdeath.
