NSW: Easter toll drives up to seven
A man has died after the car he was driving rolled over at Creek Crossing in South
Australia's far north.
Police said today that the 26-year-old man from Western Australia was killed in the
accident, which occurred on a dirt road at 7am (CST) Thursday (12/4/01) morning.
His death is the first on SA roads for the Easter Holiday road toll period.
The Northern Territory has also recorded its first Easter road fatality.
At 7:40pm (WST) last night a 38-year-old Alice Springs man was killed in a hit-and-run.
The man stopped to help friends who had ran out of fuel on the Stuart Highway, about
30km north of Alice Springs, when he was struck by a four-wheel-drive.
Seven people have so far died on Australia's roads this Easter.
Apart from the deaths in SA and NT, two people have died in Victoria, two in Western
Australia and one in Queensland.
New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Tasmania remain fatality-free.
